Put a ring on it! Guide to ethical wedding rings

Engagement season is in full swing! An estimated 40% of couples pop the question between November and February, with around 100,000 proposals likely to happen over the Christmas period alone.

If you’ve become recently engaged – Congratulations! Now the wedding planning can begin!

First things first – the ring! Engagement and wedding rings comes in all shapes, sizes and styles. But some ‘rocks’ can come with ethical conflicts.

If, like many of our couples, you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint and avoid diamonds mined in war zones, you can invest in an ethical engagement or wedding ring.

As an ethical and eco-friendly wedding venue, we think ethical wedding rings are the epitome of romance! Here’s a selection of our favourite ethical jewellers all located within our beautiful county of Somerset…

Eco Wood Rings

As a woodland wedding venue, Eco Wood Rings are right up our street! Based in Bath, husband and wife team Steve and Laura help you capture your story in a ring for someone you love. With an Eco Wood Ring you can go against the grain without compromising, knowing that your beautiful handcrafted ring won’t cost the earth. Each ring is designed with nature in mind using a variety of sustainable materials.

Choose from their collection of pre-designed rings or create a custom ring. Each ring is one-of-a kind, lovingly made to order from their own sustainable materials or those supplied by you.

Julia Thompson – available in Clifton Rocks, Clifton Village

Starting with a rough sketch, Julia develops her ideas into prototype pieces allowing the materials to dictate. Whether it’s a statement necklace or a sought after dress ring, often when working to commission, a bespoke ‘one-of-a-kind’ design is initially centred on a focal gemstone, ethically sourced where possible.

Combining warm golden hues with a cooler silver palette and creating contrasting textures with raised relief areas have become her signature design processes.
